These two blocks of apartments are both located in Innaloo. Each building consists of 11 units of mixed development, comprising 10 units of 2×2 apartments and a 1 unit of 1×1 apartment.
History
These two blocks of apartments were built for a private family investment holding company.
Elements
The construction method used for these projects was steel-framed structure constructed over screw piles connecting the frame over pad footing using high tension bolts and chemical anchors.
The structure was then sealed using fabricated panels externally using Colorbond / Compressed Rockwool / Fyrchek and Schearar Eco Panel internally.
The floors were constructed using panels made of concrete Slurry mixed with EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) beads sandwiched between CFC (Compressed Fibre Cement) sheets and thereafter covered with the required carpeting in the rooms and tiles in the Living, Kitchen and Wet Areas.
The inspiration for this construction method started with the desire to build a concept achieving a higher rating than the required norm of R6 rating and to move away from the conventional bricks and mortar or the tilt-up concrete panels.
The method adopted here has achieved a rating of an average of R7.6 (i.e., Ranging from R6.8 to R8.3).
